Frequently asked questions

Q: How do I know the Gooseneck Easy Coupler is latched?

A: Unlike other couplers the Gooseneck Easy Coupler has two ways that let you do a visual check to know the unit is latched.

1. The handle assembly mounted on the trailer controls the operation of the coupler. Simply moving the handle into the "up" position, locks the coupler and holds the locking pin securely in place. There is no in-between position on the handle; it is either open or closed. Just look in your side mirror, and you will be able to see whether the handle is in the up position, assuring that the coupler is locked.
2. The action of the lock pin is visible. You can look at the coupler and see that it is securely locked in place.

Q: What about the mechanism of the coupler; will it rust or need to be greased?

A: Unlike other couplers on the market, the components mounted on the Gooseneck Easy Coupler are made of stainless steel. These components do not need to be greased; however, spraying a little silicone spray on the cable periodically will help keep the cable in smooth working condition.

Q: Will any other parts of the coupler rust?

A: In our manufacturing process we do use a standard Bull Dog coupler which is not made of stainless steel. We recommend greasing the coupler.

Q: What about theft of my trailer?

A: The handle mechanism of the Gooseneck Easy Coupler features detailing which allows a padlock to lock the handle in the closed position. In the closed position, the coupler cannot be easily removed from a vehicle nor attached to another vehicle, helping to deter theft.

Q: If I buy a Gooseneck Easy Coupler, what do I do with my old coupler?

A: Save the old coupler. In the event that you trade in your trailer for a newer model, you can remove the Gooseneck Easy Coupler from your trade-in, and replace it with the old coupler, saving the Gooseneck Easy Coupler for the new trailer.

Q: What about the safety chains? Will I still have to crawl into the back to attach them?

A: The Gooseneck Easy Coupler alleviates the need to crawl into the back of your truck to latch the coupler. A product to allow you to latch the safety chains without crawling into the back of your truck is being developed and should be on the market soon.
